Comic Strip: Data-Driven Weight Loss… or Not? Panel 1 — The Hesitant Sweet Tooth The main character, a clearly overweight man, is sitting at a table full of pastries. He holds up a fork with whipped cream and thinks: “Could data-driven weight loss be right for me…?” His face radiates both hope and guilt. Panel 2 — The Data Scientist Appears A data scientist walks in with a laptop under his arm. The main character says: “Can you help me? Maybe losing weight will work better if I have graphs to go with it.” The data scientist nods enthusiastically. Panel 3 — First dashboard A graph showing the main character’s weight appears on the screen. The line rises slowly but surely. Meanwhile, the main character nibbles on a chicken drumstick and says: “Hmm… I’d also like to know how my BMI and cholesterol are changing.” Panel 4 — Inner Monologue Close-up of his face as he takes another bite of chicken. He thinks: “I need more insight to know what I need to do to lose weight.” Panel 5 — Dashboard Expands The data scientist types furiously. New graphs appear: BMI and cholesterol, both with rising lines. The main character leans back with a hamburger in one hand and a glass of beer in the other. He says, “Can you also track how many calories I consume each day?” The data scientist swallows audibly. Panel 6 — The Complete Dashboard The screen now displays a beautiful, professional dashboard: - Weight (rising) - BMI (rising) - Cholesterol (rising) - Daily calorie intake (extremely high) Panel 7 — Total Chaos Final scene. The main character has gained even more weight. He’s sitting in front of the screen, surrounded by: - empty pizza boxes - chicken drumsticks - snack wrappers - half-empty wine bottles - beer cans He looks at the dazzling dashboard and sighs, “This data-driven weight loss isn’t working out as well as I’d expected…” In the background stands the data scientist, tearing his hair out with both hands, completely desperate.
