A lighthouse keeper on the Breton coast rows out at dawn to meet the last ferry of the season, carrying a letter he has rewritten three times. His daughter steps off the gangway with a suitcase and a city haircut, and neither of them knows how to start. They walk the harbour wall together in silence until she takes the letter and reads it aloud.
